Unlocking Mom Magic, One Insight at a Time

My name is Maria, I am a 40-something Mom to a toddler (B) and partner/spouse/friend to Jim. We are a happy family of three and work to go on vacation. 

Most of our regular days are pleasant and filled with happy play time and hangouts. We do not seek out drama or really have time to entertain it, but we love a good people-watching session at local restaurants, breweries, and vacation destinations.

I feel like my personality is fairly straightforward; what you see is what you get. I am bold and honest, but also care deeply about my family and friends. I recognize that the world is full of different folks, but I choose to surround myself with those who enhance my life and keep a firm wall up against those that do not add to my happiness.

Much of what you will find on Momsplained is from successes determined by experience. I watch and digest, file away for later. I am independent, self-sufficient, and educated. I have also "been through some stuff" and have very little patience for someone taking a tone and "explaining" it me. 

At some point I just cracked. Once , while on a phone call, a man who was scheduling a doctor appointment decided to go off-script to tell me how the system worked... I think he felt the burn by the time I was done. In the Disney Parks, I overhear conversations from families and the level of tiredness from the mama laying out the plan to the group...and I can see the look of disdain towards her counterpart.

Don't get me wrong here. I have an excellent spouse who has a brain and regularly uses it to be a contributing member of the family. But he is supportive of me, and knows to step aside when I am in my element. 

Hence, Momsplained. The website created for those of similar disposition who just need the quick class for a Disney vacation or traveling for the first time with a toddler.
